MARITIME DECISION INTELLIGENCE

AI is easy to pilot at sea. Hard to make useful.

Helmwize finds where AI creates measurable value in your maritime operation, proves it on your real port calls, voyages and crew changes, and leaves the software running inside your own environment.

A focused first conversation. No pitch deck required.

  1. Every fleet and every port already holds the facts.
  2. The answer is inside the operation. Just not in one place.
  3. Systems. Documents. Signals. People.
  4. Helmwize connects the context between them.
  5. And leaves it running in your own environment.

Every fleet and every port already holds the facts it needs.

They sit in the PMS, the agent's inbox, the charter party and a superintendent's memory.

Helmwize connects them into decisions a person can inspect, and leaves the software running where the data already lives.

HOW MANY DO YOU CHECK?

01 / The approach

The problem is rarely a shortage of AI vendors.

Most fleets and ports have already met the vendors. The harder questions are which workflow is worth changing, whether the PMS, the agents' invoices and the SOFs can support it, what has to change around the software, and how the business will know the result was worth the money. Helmwize answers those before asking you to commit to a build. We have run the operations you are trying to improve.

Five layers

01 Connected data

Permitted connectors read from your PMS, ERP, VMS, TOS, agency portals and document stores on a schedule you set. Engines never hold credentials; compute runs on snapshots.

02 Context

Records resolve into vessels, calls, voyages, parties and contracts. The Maritime Pack supplies the definitions, KPIs, regulations and plays that make a line item mean something.

03 Evidence and calculation

Tariff arithmetic, laytime and emissions come from controlled logic, never from a language model. Every figure stays tied to its source. What could not be sourced is recorded as a gap.

04 Reasoning

Governed agents compare, classify, draft and coordinate through a pinned model gateway. A model upgrade is an evaluated release, not a silent change to a live workflow.

05 Governed action

Prepared by agents, approved by a person. Write-back reaches your systems only through permissioned actions, logged with who allowed it and why.

A hand on a bridge rail. No person is identified.

Where to start

Three steps. One owner from the first call to the last measurement.

ONE REAL DECISION

A recommendation should be something you can inspect.

What changed
Pilotage and towage lines are 18% above the published tariff; a 'port dues surcharge' appears that is not in the current tariff schedule.

Suggested step

Hold settlement. Query the agent on the two lines. Flag the agent for review at next appointment.

Illustrative workflow, not a client result. This example changes nothing outside the page: no payment, no operational record, no message.

How we work

Start small enough to prove. Build well enough to scale.

Every engagement moves through explicit gates.

Four gates

01 Diagnose

We map your fleet's or terminal's priorities, processes, economics, data and risk to the handful of workflows with a credible case. 2–4 weeks, fixed fee.

02 Prove

One workflow, run on live port calls or voyages, measured on the ruler we froze before we started. Fifteen to thirty days. A successful proof earns the right to production.

03 Deploy

Production in your estate: workflow, data, integration, intelligence, evaluation, security, governance, experience, change, measurement. Six to twelve weeks; ten to twenty for multi-system or regulated.

04 Run

The platform deploys inside your estate. Your people run it. We keep the maritime pack current. Helmwize licence, Maritime Pack subscription, managed intelligence.

Your estate

AI should fit your security boundary, not ask you to move it.

Charter parties, tariffs, crew data, claims and terminal operations are sensitive. The platform runs in your cloud tenant, your port or yard data centre, or onboard. Engines hold no credentials. Nothing is committed without a named person.

  1. 01
    Observe

Read and classify. Notice that a disbursement line sits above the published tariff.

  2. 02
    Recommend

Explain and propose. Suggest holding settlement and say why, with the sources attached.

  3. 03
    Draft

Prepare a reversible artifact: the query to the agent, ready for a person to send.

  4. 04
    Act with approval

Update a work-order status or file a single-window declaration once a named approver has said yes.

  5. 05
    Bounded automation

Route a low-value, standard invoice for approval automatically; monitored, reversible, pre-agreed.

  6. 06
    Prohibited

Release a payment. Change a crew assignment. Alter a class record. Technically blocked, not merely discouraged.

Deployment and security

Systems of record

Your systems hold the facts. Helmwize connects the context.

The PMS knows the vessel. The agent knows the berth. Finance knows the invoice. The charter party holds the laytime terms. The SOF holds the times. The crew matrix holds the certificates. A superintendent knows what usually happens next. Useful AI has to work across all of that without weakening the authority, permissions or audit history of the systems underneath.

How the platform works

FAQ

Built to be challenged.

Does this replace our PMS, ERP or vessel-management system?

No. Those systems stay authoritative. The platform reads from them, adds context and evidence, and writes back only through actions a named person approves.

Does it need a copy of all our data?

No. Connectors read what a workflow needs, on snapshots, inside your own environment. Nothing is pooled across clients and nothing trains a shared model unless you contract for it.

What do we get if we start?

A two-to-four-week Diagnostic for a fixed fee: ranked workflows, sized levers with the assumptions visible, and a frozen measurement ruler. Then a go, no-go or later decision that is yours.

How will we know it was worth the money?

Because the ruler was agreed before we built anything, the measurement uses the same definition, and you sign the attribution between what we did, what the market did and what nobody can explain.

A vessel leaving port. No client is named.

Start

You do not need another maritime AI demo.

Bring us the port calls that cost too much, the DAs nobody audits, the certificates that expire unnoticed, the dry-docks that overrun, or the pilot that never reached production. We will help you work out what is worth fixing first.
